‘Suspicious vehicle’ triggers lockdown, police sweep at Hyde Park in central London

London police have closed off Hyde Park Corner after a “suspicious vehicle” was found parked close to Buckingham Palace, local media report. “Officers remain in attendance. Road closures are currently in place,” police confirmed in a statement, adding that the car was spotted during a routine patrol shortly before 9pm local time. London’s transport authority also confirmed the area has been closed due to a “police incident.” Queen Elizabeth, according to Reuters, is not at Buckingham Palace as she travelled to her Sandringham estate in eastern England earlier Thursday for the Christmas holidays.
