Poland sets new football ‘keepy-uppy’ world record

As the World Cup kicked off in Russia, Poland set a new Guinness World record on Thursday for the largest number of people juggling footballs at the same time for 10 seconds.

The new record was set by 1,444 Polish football lovers who dressed in neon yellow to juggle soccer balls of the same colour in the southern city of Krakow.

Italian football fans set the previous record with 1,406 people “during an event organised… in Caerano di San Marco, Italy, on May 7, 2016,” according to the Guinness World record website.

The event in Poland took place in Krakow’s picturesque medieval old town square by the commercial RMF FM radio station as a show of support for the Poland national side.

Ranked 10th in the world, Poland has a realistic chance of qualifying from Group H, opening their campaign against Senegal in Moscow on June 19 before facing Colombia and Japan.
